The 3D CAD Designer/Drafter will work with a team of engineers to assist with development, design, 3D modeling, print creation, and the verification and validation of surgical instrumentation and implants used for all segments of spinal surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Creates mechanical designs for orthopedic products with guidance from senior design engineers and management.
  • Analyzes engineering prints, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts
  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes.
  • Participates in the design of surgical instrumentation and implants.
  • 3D models and 2D print creation and dimensioning using Creo Parametric.
  • Uses GD&T tolerancing to create prints with a focus on fit, form, and function.
  • Completes independent evaluations of design changes and specifications for drawing release.
  • Work from company drawings, vendor drawings or other specifications.
  • Use corporate drawing standards and SOPs as guidelines.
  • Update existing drawings to current specifications.
  • Continually promote the Vision and Corporate Vision of Altus Spine.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and desk, dress professionally

QUALIFICATIONS

**MUST HAVES**

  • Minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency with parametric (computer aided design) modeling, (Creo).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, both alone and in teams.
  • Must be a motivated individual that is able to work in a fast paced environment.

** DESIRED**

  • Associates degree in CAD, Mechanical Design, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Understanding and proven use of GD&T
  • Five (5) years of design experience, preferably in the medical device industry

We are searching for a Quality Control/Assurance Manager who can step into the leadership role of our Quality Department and become a dynamic member of our Leadership Team. You will be able to assume responsibility for all aspects for compliance of ISO9001 and ISO13485. You are team leader and provide training and mentoring to our team of dedicated Roving and Final Inspectors.


  • Work with Management to develop specific and measurable goals, improvements and standards.
  • Act on behalf of the customer to audit and maintain the accuracy and timely delivery of products.
  • Lead by example to ensure that First Article Inspections, (FAIs), are performed in a timely manner and that Roving Inspections are done at all work stations on a routine daily basis.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 and 13485 Medical Device Quality Management System certifications and compliance.
  • Perform all internal audits as required by ISO 13485.
  • Generate Non-Conforming Reports, (NCRs), to notify employees of production errors. Identify Root Cause, Preventive Action and implement corrective action and subsequent training.
  • Maintain the calibration and traceability of gages and other inspection equipment.
  • Assist employees with the interpretation of blue prints and the analysis of parts accordingly.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in planning and establishing work schedules and assignments to meet production goals.
  • Train new employees on the efficient and proper use of inspection tools and machines, including but not limited to, calipers, gauges, micrometers, and comparators and guide them through the inspection process.
  • Be an expert at the CAPA process: determine root cause, preventative actions and documentation.
  • Serve as a "help desk" to all shop employees.
  • Serve as a "Good-Will Ambassador" to staff and customers.

**MUST HAVES**

  • BS Engineering or related discipline, or ASQ Certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Expert knowledge of ISO 13485 (2016) and ISO 9001 (2015).
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control practices.
  • Ten Years Quality experience in a precision machining environment.
